Puppeteers can bring entire worlds to life using imagination, movement, and simple materials. This was a chance to learn their secrets! In this one-week summer camp at the Puppet Showplace Theater of Brookline, MA, students worked as an ensemble to tackle creative challenges in an imaginary, undiscovered universe, creating highly original puppetry scenes.
Under the guidance of Jacek Zuzanski, a master puppeteer, students learned the techniques necessary to manipulate different styles of puppets, ranging from found objects to hand, rod, and table top-style puppets. The week concluded with a group sharing and performance. In addition to puppetry activities, campers also enjoyed recreational outings led by counselors from the Brookline Recreation Department.
